Wellness Tips

My Spiritual Tools for Physical Healing + Spring Savings 🌸

Happy May everybody. This is the month that has the energy of fertility and new possibilities. It also has the energy of Mother Mary for healing and heart opening. There is also a very powerful full moon on May 5th -  Vesak festival - celebrating the birth of the Buddha.

Quick update: I was knocked over by a kid on a citi bike and had to have an operation on my right wrist. I wanted to share with you what I did to prepare for the surgery:

  1. Did a Violet flame meditation to release any trauma, fear, worry or concern that I was holding on to.

  2. Brought my Space spray into the hospital and explained it to all the admins and nurses, who were very open to having me clear the energy. I wasn't allowed to bring it into the OR, however, I did my triple grid healing where I called in the destroyer force angels and the power of the Violet light to clear out anything that would not be conducive to an easy, positive, successful operation.

  3.  I asked my surgeon to only speak positive words when I was under anesthesia, because I am a big believer that the subconscious hears everything, even if you are under anesthesia. He happily agreed with me. Thank you, doctor Etan Sugarman.

  4. Called in my MAP team (medical assistance team) and my Body Elemental to be in the operating room and to work with the surgeon and anesthesiologists for the highest and best outcome possible. Had people send me healing energy during and after the surgery.

  5. Post Surgery: working with my chiropractor - doctor Stephen Oswald, Naria Chi - acupuncturist, and taking herbs and supplements recommended by them and by doctor Vincent Pedre.

  6. Most importantly, I am resting and asking for help when I need it. Big shout out to Josefa Vincent  and Rande Brown for all their help. And to all the people who've been reaching out to me - I really appreciate it.

If you ride a bike, especially in New York City, please pay attention to the lights and check your brakes - the reason I was hurt was because the brakes failed to work on a citi bike. And if you're a pedestrian, look both ways and be vigilant.

Because May is such a powerful time to create shifts in our life, I am offering a special 20% savings on Tarot Readings with code MAY23 at checkout. The Reading must be purchased in May and claimed within 60 days of purchase.

Wellness Tips for Moving Forward in 2023

I’m just coming out of an incredible VISION 2023 weekend so this will be short and sweet.

2023 is a year that urges us from being the best in the world to being the best for the world.

Here are some tips I shared in our workshop to keep you moving forward:

  • Make sure you are around spiritually positive people who are willing to tell you the truth and help you move forward.

  • Focus on radical self-care. Treat yourself as precious.

  • Strip out toxic people in your life. You become who you hang out with.

  • If you find yourself falling into old negative patterns, stop, press your third eye (between your brows), and say CANCEL CLEAR!

  • Do things that bring you joy. Happiness speeds up manifestation.

  • Meditate daily to connect to The Light and open your intuition.

  • Cultivate a belief in a positive future. Hope improves mental wellbeing, gives you confidence and creates opportunities.

  • Exercise, Exercise, Exercise: do things to stay strong and flexible.

  • At least once a week do something you have never done before.

Until next time,
Barbara

Simple Ritual for Spiritual Support 👐

The song by Bill Withers "Lean on Me" has been twirling around in my brain all week.

“……Sometimes in our lives
We all have pain
We all have sorrow
… But if we are wise
We know that there's always tomorrow
… Lean on me
When you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on...
… For it won't be long
Till I'm gonna need somebody to lean on”

As we end this chaotic year of 2022, one thing is clear: we all need one another and trying to “do it alone” really doesn’t work. That is why I love to create a community and have found that we can do it online (if we set conscious intention)  as well as in person. The key is being willing to connect with others while still taking care of your own needs.

Here is a simple  ritual that I love that you can do at home:

  • Get a plain white bowl that you can draw on.

  • Write and draw symbols of your spiritual and physical helpers with a permanent marker on the outside and inside of the bowl. These can be people, ancestors, animals, angels, guides, elements from nature….be creative!

  • Place edible seeds in the bowl.

  • Take one at a time as you acknowledge the support you have in your life. Keep the bowl full and every time you need support take a seed and eat it.

  • or plant it in the ground.

For more support check out my offerings this week and/or contact me for a personal reading, ritual, or a coaching package. And the special EARLY BIRD SAVINGS for VISION 2023 IS ONLY AVAILABLE THROUGH DECEMBER 31ST.

10 Tools & Rituals of Connections for Happy Holidays 🥧🕯️🧡

Anxiety is at an all-time high around the world, and we’re unfortunately more likely to get stressed out and frustrated with friends, family, and colleagues during the holidays than we are to connect deeply with them, show our appreciation and express our gratitude. Relationships have become more complicated & strained in the past few years and many are still suffering from social anxiety as we move back into the world.

I want to suggest that we shift from focusing on getting presents, wearing new outfits or posting our perfect food photos on Instagram to focusing on listening, having real conversations, and appreciating what we do have in our lives.

Let’s take a digital detox for the holidays and return to Rituals of Connections. Try these:

1. Take time to share with your family and friends. For Thanksgiving or any gathering around this time, I like to have each person light a candle before dinner and share one thing that they are grateful for. This simple ceremony creates a new intimacy and sense of connection.

2. Fast from complaining. Try it and see how much better you feel.

3. Be aware of your feelings. You may feel sad during the holidays if you are physically far away from family and friends. You don’t have to pretend to be happy, however, once you acknowledge your feelings, you then have the freedom to move on and focus on other things. Volunteering at a soup kitchen, your local church or a temple is a great way to re-focus & shift your feelings.

4. Be flexible. Things change, and we must change with them to stay in the flow of life. Include some of your favorite traditions this holiday and then be open to creating new ones. Maybe your sister is now a vegetarian, and you include a Tofurkey along with the traditional one, or you celebrate a tradition from a new friend or relative.

5. Do not overspend. Use this year to find simple ways to enjoy the holidays without going into debt. Creating more debt will add to the stress you are already feeling. Remember it is the spirit of giving that counts, not the dollar amount of the gift.

6. Do some simple relaxation exercises. Try some simple breathing exercises, move your body into an easy yoga pose, or go for a brisk walk outdoors in nature. If you are going to be around many people, plan out rest stops and alone time during your (holi)days so you will not be burnt out.

7. Set boundaries. If you never say no, your yes will never mean anything. If you don’t treat yourself as valuable, no one else will either. This can cause you to either “stuff” your feelings down within and become resentful or blow up and explode unintentionally. You don’t have to say yes to every social invitation and you don’t have to do everything by yourself. Learn to delegate.

8. Laugh and do things that bring you joy. When you laugh, your brain releases neurotransmitters like dopamine, oxytocin, and serotonin, which make you feel happy and content. Get together with friends and just be silly, try laughter yoga or just watch a funny movie.

9. Give up being a perfectionist! Stop comparing yourself to others or measuring your success by impossible standards, including those you see on social media.

10. Reach out to others. Facetime or Zoom with friends or family who may be feeling lonely or isolated, volunteer at your local food bank, buy toys for kids in shelters, bake cookies for your neighbors or simply be generous with your compliments and be extra kind and patient with all your interactions.

May you always have
Walls for the winds,
A roof for the rain,
Tea beside the fire,
Laughter to cheer you,
Those you love near you,
And all your heart might desire!

(Irish Blessings)

Tools I Used in My Physical Healing Journey

I have been asked a lot in the past few weeks what I have been doing to heal my broken shoulder so I thought I would share my gems with you.

First, I want to give a big shout out to my friends, family, and community for all their help and positive energy. You really do need a strong support system to move through any challenge. And a special thank you to Lana Smith - my right hand (@hilo_de_lana).

Second, all the fabulous Practitioners who helped me (sometimes I do feel like the Emily’s list of spirituality):

Acupuncture: Naria Chi, NYC (acunariachi@gmail.com)
Chiropractic: Dr. Steven Oswald, NYC (stephenoswaldchiropractic.com)
Shiatsu/ Tai Massage: Saki Kim, NYC (srkacupuncture.com)
Reiki: Pamela Miles(@pamelamoves) and Hope Tarr (@hopectarr, @handsofhopereiki)
Healing Tea: Miriam Novalle (@tealadytsalon)
PT/OT: Spear Physical Therapy (@spearptnyc)

Third: My Body Elemental. This deva is like an angel…it is the overseeing intelligence of your body. Its only job is to take care of your physical body and it requires love and appreciation from you. Each morning I check in with her and ask her what we need to know and do to keep my physical body healthy and in optimal health and well-being. This keeps a strong resonance and supports a loving relationship between the Body elemental and the physical form.

I was taught that it incarnates with you every lifetime, so if you believe in ancestral karma, it can also help you release what no longer serves you.

How to Connect & Improve Your Well-Being During Isolation

One of the themes that came up during all three of the Vision Workshops that I have led in the past few weeks was the long term harsh reality of Covid Isolation and the longing for real community and connection.

When you isolate, it is easier to spin out with fear and anxiety. Having another viewpoint (from a conscious person or group) can open you up to new possibilities and help you deal with your current reality. That is why I love doing group work.

Remember the word communication comes from the root word “to make common”. It is all about connection.

Here are some ways that you can practice really connecting.

1. Connect to yourself daily. Place your hand over your heart, take a few deep breaths and ask, what would you have me do today?”

2. Connect to the Earth and the elements. Go outside every day, if possible, even for a few moments. Feel your feet on the earth, open to the wind, the sun, and the water.

3. Make eye contact. It is harder to know what anyone is thinking or feeling any more since we are all wearing a mask, but you can look someone in the eyes and smile with your eyes. This says,
“I see you!”

4. Learn to be curious and listen to understand rather than immediately reacting and becoming judgmental when someone shares an idea that you do not agree with. Even if it is just 10% curious and the other 90% is saying, this is bullsh*t! It can make a big difference.

5. Write the names of people you care about on small slips of paper. Place the strips of paper in a bowl and each day, pick one person to reach out to.

6. Connect in person (if possible) to at least one person a week. Go for a walk, visit a museum, have a beverage or meal together. There are many ways you can stay safe and still be with others.

7. Connect to Source/Spirit/God/Goddess. Meditate, attend a spiritual circle, go to Church or Temple, read an uplifting book, watch a spiritual teacher on IGLive or YouTube.

Imagine if Years Were Minutes? 🤯 Here is How to Savor Them

Imagine if time sped up and every few minutes you found yourself jumping forward to the next year of your life. This was the plot of an Australian movie Long Story Short that I watched the other night.

“When time-poor Teddy wakes up the morning after his wedding to discover that every few minutes he's jumping forward to the next year of his life, he must use every precious moment wisely to keep from losing the love of his life, and to learn to love the life he's losing.

This is how life can feel at times. Speeding forward so quickly that before you know it 5,10,20 years have whisked by. For those of you who have children in your life, you know exactly what I mean. I still can’t believe that I have a grown married son. If I close my eyes, I can still feel what it felt like to hold him as a cute cuddly toddler.

I am going to take this opportunity as we move into celebrating the Lunar New Year of the Water Tiger (February 1st) to really savor the moments and focus on what has heart and meaning.

How to savor moments

Here are some things I plan to do:

1. Plug into the Light at least 3 times a day. It in this way I keep my frequency high, my intuition becomes strong, and I am guided by Divine Wisdom.

2. Let go of comparing myself to others. It is a real drain on my energy and one of my personal challenges.

3. Be in gratitude for what I do have. I like to walk around my apartment thanking my body, the plants, furniture, computer, and anything else I see.

4. Take care of my body. When my body is happy and strong, I am unstoppable. Thank you Lavinia Errico for your fabulous classes.

5. Spend more time with friends and family.

6. Do new things and have fun adventures. Bring in more joy and simple pleasures.

7. Consciously honor the goddess within me and allow the new to take form.

Work with me:

Why not have real support to be able to see clearly and shift perspective. Ideas are seeds when they first come to you, and they require that you nurture them in a way that they can grow and thrive.
