Fall Equinox: The Cosmic Dance
As I was approaching Yom Kippur, ( The Day of Atonement in Judaism), I found myself doing some spiritual self-checking.
And I realized something uncomfortable: I wasn't exactly walking my own talk.
A few days earlier, I was at Whole Foods, checking out. I scanned my groceries, paid, and walked home.
Then I realized that one of the items hadn't scanned. It was only $17.
And honestly, in that moment, I thought, Oh, well. What the heck.
But as Yom Kippur approached, that little incident kept coming back to me.
I talk a lot about abundance and living in alignment. How could I ask the Universe for abundance while knowingly keeping something I hadn't paid for?
Yes, it was only $17. But the amount wasn't the point. The pattern was.
So I went back to Whole Foods, went to customer service and explained that one of my items hadn't scanned and that I wanted to pay for it.
The woman looked at me, completely confused. She said "You want to do what?”
I explained it again. And then a third time.
Finally, she understood. I paid the $17 and walked out. And I felt lighter.
Nothing dramatic happened. But something inside me shifted.
I felt like I was back in Divine Order.
As we enter the Fall Equinox, a time of balance, I invite you to ask yourself:
Where am I out of alignment?
Where might I be saying one thing but doing another?
Where am I asking for abundance, love, peace or connection while holding onto something that quietly weighs on me?
Sometimes restoring balance doesn't require a major life overhaul. Sometimes it means making one small correction. Having the conversation. Making the apology. Returning what isn't yours. Or simply admitting, This isn't who I want to be anymore.
And then comes forgiveness.
Forgive yourself for what you have done consciously or unconsciously, through your words, actions or choices.
Forgiveness doesn't mean pretending it didn't happen. It means acknowledging it, making amends when we can, learning from it, and choosing differently.
This Fall Equinox, perhaps the invitation is simple:
✦ Notice what is out of balance.
✦ Make one small correction.
✦ Forgive yourself.
✦ And return to alignment.
That is the cosmic dance.
With love,
Barbara
