Spirituality and the City: Pilgrimage to the Ganesha Temple (Queens, NY)

  • The Hindu Temple Society of North America 45-57 Bowne Street Flushing, NY, 11355 United States (map)

Hello, spiritual adventurer! I am so excited to announce our first tour to “India” since Covid - I will be taking a small group to the Hindu Society of North America (in Flushing, Queens), also known as Ganesha Temple after its central deity, Ganesha.

As many of you know, I love India and feel very connected to the sacred rituals. India is in my heart. While traveling in India, I was blessed to receive many empowerments in order to release negative karma and bring in the energy for success, love and abundance. Now I want to share them with you.

I am delighted to introduce you to the real deal right here in NY. Immerse yourselves into the deep spirituality of an ancient culture.

HERE IS WHAT TO EXPECT:

  1. Handouts with information about the specific gods and goddesses you will see at the Temple.

  2. We begin our morning  with a group alignment and a brief lecture by me.

  3. Around 10:45 AM we are joining an "Abhishekam" ritual from (11:00-11.30 AM) to Lord Venkateswara (Maha Vishnu).  "Abhishekam" is a shower or sacred bath with water and other sacred materials for the deity to the accompaniment of a recital of Vedic Hymns. "Archana" is a ritual carried out by chanting and glorifying many divine names of specific God or Goddess.

  4. At 11:30 AM our group will move to Sri Maha Lakshmi shrine to participate in a private puja. This is a ritual to open up to the prosperity and love that the goddess has to offer us (you will be able to buy coconuts for the ritual at the Temple). Feel free to bring flowers if you want.

  5. For the rest of the trip, the group will be taken around the temple on a tour. You will also have time to meditate quietly by yourself at the many altars.

The tour shall include a question and answer session at the basement of the temple, on the temple, the rituals and Hindu faith etc.

On completion of the tour (around 12:45 PM) you can proceed to the Canteen to enjoy the delightful Vegetarian Indian food (not included in the tour price).

PLEASE DRESS APPROPRIATELY:

There is a dress code for visitors to the temple: no shorts, ripped jeans, mini-skirts. Shoes can be left either outside at the entrance or in the basement. You can wear socks inside the temple.

TRANSPORTATION:

Price does not include transportation to the Temple. Check with us to see if anyone is driving from the city. Public transportation is available - please check the map to see the quickest route to the temple from your location.

We will be a tight group of 10 people so this event has limited availability - book now.
